What's New for 2006?

Fund Raising - Mary and Tracey again taught two classes this Spring through the State College Area School District Community Education. "Flower Arranging" is always a popular class and the "Perennial Gardening" was a big hit this year. It's a great way to forget the winter blues. Money from this course goes into the scholarship fund.

2006 Scholarship Recipient - Has not been chosen yet

Hort Show - Hope that you enjoy this year's Hort Show. (October 14-15, 2006). Thank you to all the donors and those that are providing support to this year's show.

Ag Alumni Tailgate - Please consider attending the Ag Alumni Tailgate (November 18, 2006) this fall at Penn State. We hope to get a crowd of Horticulture & Landscape Contracting graduates together for a relaxing social event. There will be a silent auction that benefits student programs such as the Ag Alumni Internship Award and Scholarship Endowments, mentoring program and other alumni programs. Also, you can watch the game on a big screen TV if you don't have tickets for the football game.

Our main money maker - selling corsages at home football games has come to an end. Due to Penn State Athletic policy changes, we are only allowed to sell corsages pre-game at the Homecoming football game. Its sad that this tradition is being tied up in such politics! Also, it has been VERY difficult to get helpers to sell corsages at the game. IF interested, please drop Tracey or Mary and email.

What Should we do? any thoughts on a new money maker? Most of this money does go towards one $250 undergraduate scholarships awarded every year. Suggestions are most welcome!!!

We still have Horticulture/Landscape Contracting MUGS!!!
Flower Pot shaped mugs in Penn State blue are available for $5.50 by contacting Tracey Harpster.
